Russia will respond to Kremlin drone attack with ‘concrete actions’: Sergey Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that a drone attack on the Kremlin was impossible without US knowledge, saying Moscow would respond with concrete actions.

"It is clear that terrorists from Ukraine could not carry out an attack on the Kremlin without the knowledge of their observers,"  said Lavrov as per reports. He was referring to the US administration led by President Joe Biden.

Russia's foreign minister, who is on a two-day visit to India to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, has called Western countries and Ukraine "liars".  Adding to it he said "The ability of our Ukrainian and Western friends to lie is very well known, and the whole situation illustrates a crisis that is much deeper than just the behavior of the regime led by Zelensky," Lavrov said,

Lavrov said discussions are ongoing between India and Russia on the challenges that have arisen in the rupee-ruble trade amid the Ukraine war.

Earlier on Thursday, Lavrov and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the SCO meeting. During the meeting, the two countries agreed to build a "just multipolar system of interstate relations." Moscow claimed on Wednesday that Ukrainian forces carried out a drone attack on the Kremlin to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a statement, the Russian presidency called the drone attack on the Kremlin a "planned terrorist act and an attempt to assassinate the president." Meanwhile, several videos showing smoke rising above the Kremlin have gone viral on social media.

In response to Russia's claims, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi denied Kiev's involvement in the drone attack in the Kremlin. On the other hand, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that he could not confirm the accusations made by Russia against Ukraine.
